Due to his cold and blunt nature, he inspires little loyalty or love from his peers and he does not seem to care about his unpopularity nor does he seek the respect or admiration of the people. He has faith that his men will follow him and die for him anyway because of his birthright. Stannis is also reliant on fear to keep his men in check and considers public displays of kindness a weakness leaders should not possess. On the other hand, Stannis's advisor, Davos Seaworth has complete loyalty, admiration and respect for Stannis and encourages his claim completely despite being drastically punished by him in the past, implying some degree of bravado on his part.

This history of events begins with Stannis Baratheon, Lord of Dragonstone, brother of King Robert the Usurper, and follows his history and lineage. It examines his choices, and the consequences of them, not only for himself, but the realm at large. Robert Baratheon led a rebellion against King Aerys II Targaryen, resulting in the overthrowing of the Targaryens.
Renly Baratheon, the First of His Name
After learning that Robert's children were all bred of incest and had no actual entitlement to the Iron Throne, he recognized his right to be king, but despite his ambitions, Stannis did not appear (or externally appear) megalomaniacal. He admits to Davos Seaworth that although he did not ask to be king, by every rightful law he is and had to accept his duty whether he liked it or not. He is defeated in the battle in the ice by Ramsay Bolton's army, much of Stannis's own army having deserted following the burning of Shireen. Stannis is shortly thereafter found wounded by Brienne of Tarth, once Kingsguard to Renly, who kills him for the murder of his younger brother. As a new convert in the faith of R’hllor, Selyse tells her husband Melisandre saw Renly dead. Later, Stannis burns the carvings of the Faith of the Seven as a sacrifice and denounces the faith.
Renly's protector Brienne of Tarth swears to avenge his death by killing Stannis, but is talked out of it by Catelyn Stark. Neutra ran his architectural from the original house from 1932 until a fire destroyed most of the main building in 1963. The Research House was rebuilt with the most modern materials and design adaptations by Neutra and his son Dion in 1966. There is also a Garden House on the property that was occupied by Dion Neutra and his family.
Lord of Storm's End and Lord Paramount of the Stormlands during the reign of Maegor Targaryen. He was the first lord to declare for the young Jaehaerys Targaryen and was proclaimed Hand of the King and Protector of the Realm as a result. He later married Alyssa Velaryon, siring Boremund and Jocelyn Baratheon.
Robert and Stannis were in a loveless brotherhood, which they admit to each other. This was also the same with Renly, however they appear on slightly better terms than with Robert. During negotiations he welcomed Renly to a place in his Small Council and (until he fathered a male heir) was prepared to allow him be heir to his throne if he lay down his forces. He also showed remorse over indirectly killing his little brother and he doesn't attempt to lie to Brienne of Tarth, Renly's Kingsguard, over his involvement. In the end, Stannis doesn't begrudge Brienne's intentions and simply tells her to do her duty, which was to kill him.
Stannis' plans were upset however when Robert learned of his brother's dealings with the Sealord of Braavos, and discovered that Daenerys was not only in Westeros, but had married a Baratheon. Furious, Robert demanded her surrender to him, that she might be thrown in the dungeons of the Red Keep, or worse, executed. Stannis, caught before his plan to end Robert and sire a Targaryen-Baratheon babe could come to fruition, refused, pressing Daenerys' claim to the throne and inviting the other great houses to stand with him in rebellion against Robert. Thus began the first of many wars for the Iron Throne, wars that would claim the lives of thousands on all sides and all fought over one woman and the terrible threat she represented to the Baratheon-Lannister alliance. He is Lord of Storm's End, Lord Paramount of the Stormlands, and Master of Laws at the start of the series. A handsome, flashy and charismatic young man, he is very popular with the common people.
It is known that Stannis took at least one foreign lover during this time, but as Daenerys came of age, this small romance was put aside as his mind turned once more to future glories. The long bargain paid off when Daenerys was secreted out of Braavos one night and delivered to Dragonstone, where she was wed in secret to Stannis at the tender age of fourteen. Stannis, a Baratheon and brother of the man who had orchestrated the calamitous ruin of her own house, was at that time twenty years her senior, and anxious to get her with child. House Baratheon became the royal house of the Seven Kingdoms (as House Baratheon of King's Landing) after Robert Baratheon led a rebellion against the Targaryen dynasty.
When Prince Rhaegar kidnapped Lyanna Stark, her brother Brandon traveled to King’s Landing to demand justice. When he ordered the head of Robert and Eddard Stark, Lord Jon Arryn called his banners to war. Stannis hears of Joffrey's death and chastises Davos again for releasing Gendry and not finding him a suitable army, prompting Davos to write to the Iron Bank of Braavos in Stannis' name to help pay for an army. The Iron Bank nearly refuses Stannis' request, but Davos manages to convince them that Stannis is the only one they can turn to since Tywin Lannister is nearing old age. Stannis and his army arrive at the Wall shortly after the Battle of Castle Black, interrupting a parley between Jon Snow and Mance Rayder and crushing the wildling force. Stannis learns that Jon is Ned Stark's son, and on Jon's advice, he places Mance and his men under arrest.
The injustice of Robert's dealings planted the seed of a deep resentment in Stannis that grew with each passing month of his rulership over the meager holdings of Dragonstone. Envious of his brothers, Stannis hatched a plot that would define his life and ultimately end it, and it is from this decision that the great wars to come trace their origin. Stannis wrote to the Sealord of Braavos, the patron of the prince-in-exile Viserys Targaryen, and his young sister Daenerys. A betrothal was brokered while the silver-haired girl was still in the crib, and Viserys a boy of only five.
The city also has a vibrant startup scene, with many tech companies choosing Los Angeles as their home. It was less about partisanship than geography — where a lawmaker lived mattered more than party. Gov. Gavin Newsom signed legislation that allows more than one unit to be built on lots zoned for only one.
Stannis has an unbreakable code of honor and sense of duty and justice which governs his actions. He supported his brother in Robert's Rebellion and fought bravely to put down the Greyjoy Rebellion. When a newly-crowned Robert granted dominion of the much larger and wealthier Stormlands and Storm's End to young Renly and left Stannis with Dragonstone, Stannis accepted his brother's wishes. During the Siege of Storm's End, Stannis held out against the Tyrells despite the hunger, hopelessness and overwhelming numbers they faced. When Davos finally managed to smuggle food into the castle, Stannis made sure his men were fed first before feeding himself.[42] He then rewarded (and punished) Davos fairly, which impressed the smuggler and earned his admiration. After arriving at Eastwatch-by-the-Sea, Stannis and his troop head to Castle Black, where they defeat Mance Rayder’s army.
